T-Pain Credits André 3000, Busta Rhymes, David Banner & More For Being Teachers To His Style

T-Pain says each of these artists showed him ways to improve his artistry like live shows, recording and being original with his style.

Whether people liked it or not, T-Pain’s run in the mid-2000s changed the game for Hip Hop. The Grammy Award-winner’s infectious songs and colorful outfits elevated T-Pain to superstardom, and now he’s become a legend in his own right.

Lately, T-Pain has become more vocal these days when it comes to the new generation. Even though he has his opinions, Tallahassee Pain makes sure to leave some knowledge of his own.

On Wednesday (July 28), T-Pain took to Twitter to thank several artists such as André 3000 and Busta Rhymes for teaching him the essentials of becoming a star while reminding fans how significant personal influence is compared to public opinion.

“Devin taught me how to mix records and keep it simple,” T-Pain opened his tweet. “3k and Cee Lo taught me I don’t have to limit myself to the sound ppl are used to and I can wear whatever I want while doin it. Banner and Busta taught me how to put on a real live show. Personal influence > public opinion.”

The list of artists in T-Pain’s list of teachers know a little something about being original in Hip Hop with their respective careers. Without them, who knows what type of artist T-Pain could’ve been.

Today, fans can hear T-Pain’s influence all over Hip Hop, and although he’s grateful, he’s annoyed Hip Hop lacks originality now. T-Pain recently took to his Twitch account to vent about all the music and artists that sound similar these days.
